On October 9, 1859, a Belgian woman named Adele Brise was walking along a wooded Indian trail when a beautiful lady in white appeared to her. The Lady said she was the “Queen of Heaven”. She told Adele to “gather the children in this wild country, and teach them what they should know for salvation”. This single event catapulted the establishment of a shrine called Our Lady of Good Help. Twelve years after the apparition, the Peshtigo Fire sweeps through Northeast Wisconsin, and the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help stands directly in its path. This documentary explores the incredible events that took place at the Shrine and also gives a closer look at the life of Adele Brise, a woman who played a substantial role in making the Shrine one of Wisconsin’s most historic landmarks of the last 150 years.
